Aquarium Party is a free-to-play Windows collection and aquarium-management game from NSN GAMES. Its calm presentation sits on top of several distinct loops: feed fish to earn treasures, exchange them for new species, raise and awaken special forms, decorate an underwater home, and take a lineup into the Star Tour. The developer advertises more than 1,000 fantasy fish, but collecting them all is not a sensible first-day goal. Steam also labels the game as having in-app purchases and requiring a broadband connection. If you want a completely offline aquarium toy or a one-time paid game with no optional spending, check those limits before installing.

Start with the fish-keeping loop

The official description says feeding fish produces treasures that can be exchanged for new fish. This is the basic progression path: care for a small collection, use the return to broaden it, then decide which fish or background makes the aquarium you actually want. The publisher calls the experience idle and relaxing, but does not publish exact earning rates or how often a player must return. An idle label is not a promise that every reward arrives while the game is closed. Learn the timing in the current version before planning around a presumed passive-income schedule.

Awakening fish and building a Star Tour lineup

NSN GAMES singles out twelve Zodiac Fish. Awakening these fish is said to unlock chibi characters with voice lines and dialogue. That makes an awakened form more than a color variant in the publisher's description. It also provides a focused collection objective for players who would rather pursue a named set than chase the entire catalogue. The store does not explain the full awakening requirements, whether duplicates are needed, or whether every Zodiac Fish is obtainable without purchases. Confirm those rules in-game before spending a scarce resource on a collection plan.

Star Tour is a separate progression mode. The publisher describes traveling to performances, choosing a fish lineup according to attributes, and competing with Star Arena champions. This means a fish's role may matter beyond how it looks in your tank. Start by comparing the attributes the game displays, then assemble a lineup for the specific performance instead of assuming the rarest-looking fish is always best. The listing does not give combat formulas or promise real-time player-versus-player matches. The Steam feature panel calls the product single-player, so “champions” and social features should not be read as proof of synchronous multiplayer competition.

Dress-up, home decor, and the Fishy Circle

There are two kinds of customization in the published feature list. Princess Bubble can be dressed with hairstyles, dresses, handbags, shoes, and other items. Separately, furniture earned or acquired through daily operation can be arranged in an underwater home called the Water World. These are not the same as changing a fish's attributes for Star Tour. If decorating is your main reason to play, look at how furniture is earned and what is available without payment before deciding that the free download provides every pictured style.

The Fishy Circle is the game's named community feature. The developer says players can form or join a circle, build it with friends, recruit fish treasures, raise fish together, and tackle dungeons for group perks. Pet collection adds another branch: examples on the store page include Money Turtles, Hermit Crabs, and Water Sprites. Placed pets are said to provide skill bonuses, while raised pets can travel to themed islands to bring back eggs and other discoveries. These are publisher descriptions, not tested drop-rate guides. Choose one side activity at a time so you can see whether it supports the fish or decoration goal you care about.

Why “free to play” is not the whole cost picture

The Steam purchase panel says Free To Play, while the feature list flags In-App Purchases. The developer also advertises gacha, limited-time islands, daily events, and seasonal celebrations. Those systems can create a reason to check in frequently or spend, but the store does not publish a complete price list, probability table, or schedule of all future events. It would be misleading to call every fish free or to claim that purchases are required to finish a particular activity without a verified rule. Treat the initial download as a chance to inspect the current shop, event timers, and reward paths before making any payment.

Compare the kind of management you want

Planet Zoo 2 is also about caring for animals and shaping a place for them, but its published focus is habitat design, guest operations, and conservation across a zoo. Aquarium Party instead builds around cute fish collection, idle feeding rewards, dress-up, and special-event progression. Someone looking for detailed ecological construction may prefer the zoo simulation; someone looking for a lighter collection routine may prefer the aquarium. This comparison concerns stated features, not a scored hands-on judgment about either game's depth.

Stardew Valley offers another relaxing rhythm with collecting and relationship-building, yet its core is farming, mining, villagers, and a broader role-playing schedule. Aquarium Party keeps fish and the underwater home in the foreground. The two games also have different payment structures: the current Steam panel presents Aquarium Party as free to play with in-app purchases, whereas Stardew Valley is a paid game.

PC, language, and artwork disclosures

Steam lists Windows 10 64-bit or later, a dual-core 2.0 GHz processor, 4 GB RAM, DirectX 11-compatible graphics, 2 GB available storage, and broadband internet as minimum requirements. Its recommended panel lists a quad-core processor, 8 GB RAM, and 3 GB storage. These are developer-supplied specifications, not a measured performance guarantee. The store currently lists no native macOS or Linux version. Check the live system-requirements panel for your machine, especially if an integrated GPU or limited storage is involved.

The Steam language table marks both English and Traditional Chinese for interface, full audio, and subtitles. It does not list Simplified Chinese in the visible table we checked. NSN GAMES also discloses that some store and marketing artwork used AI-image tools with human editing, while optional Zen-mode aquarium backgrounds were upscaled from hand-drawn originals using an AI super-resolution tool. The developer says gameplay, characters, fish designs, story text, and music were created by the team or licensed from human creators. These distinctions matter if provenance of artwork affects your decision; they are the developer's own disclosures, not an independent audit.

Questions before you fill the tank

Is Aquarium Party really free?

Steam provides a Free To Play install option, but also flags in-app purchases. The visible store page does not tell us that every fish, outfit, pet, or event reward can be obtained at no cost. Look at the current shop and any gacha information inside the game before treating a specific collection goal as free. No paid base-game purchase was shown in the US Steam panel when checked.

Can I play with friends in the same aquarium?

The publisher advertises Fishy Circles, shared raising, dungeons, and teaming up for some pet trips. Steam nevertheless labels the title single-player in its feature panel. That combination supports social or cooperative systems of some kind but does not establish real-time shared control of one tank, local co-op, or a conventional multiplayer campaign. Verify the particular interaction you want in the game before inviting friends for a live session.

Does it work without an internet connection?

The minimum requirements specify broadband internet, and the feature set includes community and event systems. The publisher does not promise a separate offline mode in the material reviewed. Do not rely on an idle label as evidence that the Windows game works without a connection. If offline play is essential, ask the developer or find an explicit current support statement first.

Is the launch an Early Access conversion?

The October 8 Steam announcement said the store page was live and the game was “Coming October 22,” and the current store page offers the game to play. We found no Early Access history in the official material reviewed. Steam's API has displayed October 21 while the US storefront displays October 22, which may reflect regional timing; both fall within this site's new-release window. Do not treat the announcement date as the playable release date.

Our take on the choice

Aquarium Party looks most suitable for someone who likes a soft visual style and several small collection goals: a growing tank, named Zodiac fish, a chosen Star Tour lineup, outfits, furniture, and pets. Its main tradeoffs are online dependence, an in-app-purchase economy, and little public review evidence so soon after launch. Free entry makes it easy to inspect those systems, but does not make every goal free or guarantee a relaxed long-term pace. This assessment uses the developer's Steam listing and launch notice, not a hands-on test of its economy or performance.
