Zenless Zone Zero is HoYoverse's Android action RPG set around New Eridu, a city that survives beside dangerous spaces called Hollows. You take the role of a Proxy, connecting people and Agents who venture into those areas. The official Google Play listing describes squads of up to three, Basic and Special Attacks, dodges, parries, Stun, and Chain Attacks. It also discloses optional in-game purchases, including random virtual items. This is a game for players who want to act during a fight, not simply watch a collected roster battle automatically.
New Eridu gives the action a purpose
The publisher frames Hollows as zones with distorted space, hostile creatures, and valuable remnants. New Eridu is the place where different factions, customers, and Agents gather before taking those risks. That contrast supplies the story's rhythm: relationships and preparation in the city, followed by dangerous expeditions. The Proxy's role is not identical to the Agents' combat role, which helps explain why the world has both social and battle-focused scenes. If you follow the story, watch how a customer's reason for entering a Hollow differs from your squad's immediate fight objective.
The store description is intentionally colorful, but it should not be mistaken for a complete map guide or a list of every current activity. New factions and events may appear as the game is updated. Begin by learning the core setting and a small number of Agents; a detailed understanding of every group is not necessary before the first battles.
How three-Agent combat works
HoYoverse says a squad can contain up to three Agents. Basic and Special Attacks generate pressure, while Dodge and Parry respond to enemy counterattacks. Stunning an opponent creates an opportunity to use Chain Attacks. That sequence suggests a useful learning order: first notice an enemy's warning and survive it, then learn how your team turns a Stun into an effective follow-up. A fight can feel chaotic if you focus only on bright effects and never ask which action opened the window for the next one.
Different opponents have different traits and weaknesses, according to the listing. A single squad should therefore not be treated as a universal answer. If progress slows, examine whether you are missing the timing of a defensive action, choosing the wrong Agent for an enemy, or using attacks without capitalizing on a Stun. These are practical questions from the stated mechanics, not a claim that we tested current endgame balance or a particular character's damage output.
Factions and character choice
The game presents Agents as people tied to New Eridu's varied factions and stories. That is more interesting than a roster where each character is only a set of numbers, but it also means marketing art may draw you toward a limited-time character. The Play listing's purchase disclosure matters here: optional payments can involve random virtual items. Before spending, check the live offer's probabilities, end date, and currency rules. Do not assume a character shown in a trailer is included in the starting squad or available permanently.
For a first team, prioritize learning each Agent's role and the connection between their attacks. Practice switching at a predictable moment rather than changing characters at random. If you can explain who helps create a Stun and who benefits from the resulting Chain Attack, you have a more durable strategy than chasing a promotional tier list that may change after an update.
Which HoYoverse game fits your style?
Honkai: Star Rail focuses on turn-based lineups and enemy weaknesses during a journey across worlds. Genshin Impact emphasizes open-world travel and elemental reactions in Teyvat. Zenless Zone Zero puts tighter attention on the timing of a small action squad and on New Eridu's Hollow stories. None is a direct replacement for the others. A player who wants to think before each turn may prefer Star Rail; someone who wants to roam widely may prefer Genshin; someone drawn to dodges, parries, and chained hits should examine Zenless first.
Practical limits before installation
The game is free to download on the current Play listing, but that says nothing about the price of optional virtual items. Device compatibility, storage needs, account requirements, and regional availability should be checked on the official store page at the time you install. We have not measured frame rate or battery use on an Android handset, so no performance guarantee is offered here. Events and recruitable Agents can change after this guide is written.
If you try it, give the opening combat lessons your attention and learn one defensive response before judging the whole battle system. Then compare how two Agents contribute to the same encounter. Keep a note of which timing cue caused a missed dodge or parry; that observation gives the next attempt a purpose. This page explains the officially described systems and a cautious way to approach them; it is not presented as a hands-on review.
