Apex Legends Ranked Roadmap: What Changes in Seasons 31 and 32
Apex Legends plans Legend bans and lobby-based entry costs in Season 31, followed by new ranks, leagues, and scoring in Season 32.

Respawn's Ranked roadmap separates near-term changes from a larger redesign. Season 31, scheduled to start in November 2026, introduces Legend bans in matches with Diamond-or-higher players, adjusts entry costs in unusually wide-skill lobbies, and removes the Road to Ranked challenges. Season 32, described for early 2027, is the planned overhaul of rank tiers, leagues, scoring, and rewards. These are announced plans, not a claim that every feature is live today.
How the Season 31 Legend ban works
Before Legend selection, every player can nominate one Legend. The nominations set a probability for each candidate, and the system randomly chooses from those weighted chances. The most-voted Legend is therefore more likely to be removed, but is not guaranteed to be banned. Respawn says the system accompanies Drop Zone deployment in Diamond+ matches. Players who rely on one Legend should prepare a second workable pick and agree on alternative squad roles before queueing.
Why some Ranked entry costs will differ
A lobby will display a Lobby Tier based on its median squad rank. A squad at least two rank tiers below it becomes a Challenger and pays a reduced entry cost; a squad at least two tiers above it becomes a Goliath and pays more. Respawn's Gold-lobby example places Bronze squads in the first case and a Diamond squad in the second. This adjusts risk before the match rather than hiding the difference in the final RP calculation. Exact tuning remains subject to monitoring.
Season 31 also replaces Road to Ranked challenges with an account-level-20 requirement. The developer says it will keep evaluating that threshold. Demotion Protection will be more visible: three shields absorb otherwise tier-demoting losses while the protection applies.
Season 32 is the bigger structural shift
The roadmap replaces Rookie with Iron, adds Emerald between Platinum and Diamond, and puts Grandmaster above Masters. A Predator badge would require finishing in Grandmaster's top 750. Open League will cover lower ranks and start from the Dropship; Diamond, Masters and Grandmaster will make up Pro-Am, where Drop Zones and Legend bans remain. The announced scoring redesign gives each kill and placement a fixed RP value instead of multiplying kill value by placement, removes individual assist/participation scoring in favor of full team-kill RP, and changes entry cost by division. Open League is intended to weigh kills somewhat more; Pro-Am weighs placement more.
What is still undecided for players
Respawn previewed seasonal Auras, possible Dive Trail changes, promotion rewards and packs, but withheld full reward details. Weekly Ladders are due to disappear in Season 32. The roadmap does not provide a final numerical RP table or a precise Season 32 start date. Check the live season patch notes before planning a climb around a specific cost or reward.
