Mycopunk 1.0: New Mycologist, Missions and Progression Changes

Mycopunk exits Early Access with a new employee, missions, weapon, region, achievements, and rules that returning co-op teams should check.

Mycopunk 1.0: New Mycologist, Missions and Progression Changes artwork

Mycopunk's 1.0 release is not just a version-number change. Pigeons at Play lists a recruitable employee, a new mission and region, a close-range weapon, an achievement-like progression system, and rule changes for co-op missions. The official post was published October 21, 2026. It also advertises a 50% launch discount, but that is a time-limited storefront offer, not a permanent price.

How the Mycologist changes the roster

The Mycologist is a survivor of the first New Atlas expedition. She has Sporelift, Fungal Skewer and a passive infection ability. The post says players must rescue her in Expedition Alpha, so she is not necessarily selectable the moment an existing save is upgraded. A squad returning for 1.0 should identify that rescue objective before planning a build around her abilities. The post names the abilities but does not publish a complete numerical breakdown of their damage or cooldowns.

New jobs, a new region and a weapon gate

Population Control is the new regular mission, focused on high-density enemies and possible Abomination encounters. The Couch is a smaller assignment for Roachard and the HUB. X11-B is a difficult moonlet region; the Snowball cryo grenade unlocks there. The Diffraction Driver is an ion scattergun that starts with a short-range cone and can be spun up into a narrower, longer pattern. It is unlocked with resources after level 10, so it is not an instant starter weapon.

Fulfillments track mastery and can reward cosmetics. Some progress is retroactive, while other tasks are not because the game did not previously track the necessary statistic. That distinction matters to Early Access veterans expecting every old achievement to unlock automatically. The HUB and drop pod have also been revised, with old drop-pod skins carried across to the new model.

Returning squads should check the new failure rule

A mission now fails if no player reaches the Drop Pod. The patch also adjusts enemies, crafting costs, resource drops, controls and localization. In particular, crafting undiscovered upgrades costs more ordinary resources but less Saxonite, and the chance of earning Saxonite from missions increases. The developer's long changelog is the reference for exact balance changes; this overview highlights decisions that affect your first session back. The separate Supporter Pack is cosmetic support, not required for the 1.0 update.
