MTG Arena Star Trek Preorders: Pack, Pass and Play Bundles

The MTG Arena Star Trek preorder offers collection, Mastery Pass and competitive-play bundles with different items and delivery timing.

MTG Arena Star Trek Preorders: Pack, Pass and Play Bundles artwork

Magic: The Gathering Arena has opened three Star Trek preorder bundles with different purposes. The Pack option emphasizes cards, the Pass option adds Mastery progress, and the Play option supplies event entries. The Steam announcement lists some cosmetics as available immediately and the main contents for a later release date, so purchasing a bundle does not mean all of its packs or tokens appear instantly.

Pack Bundle: collection first

The Pack Bundle lists a Captain Kirk sleeve available at purchase. Its later items are 45 regular packs, five mythic packs, five Golden packs, a Captain James T. Kirk card and a depth-art style. A collector who mainly wants unopened packs would compare this with buying packs separately at the current in-client price. The notice does not provide a universal cash value for that comparison, and regional prices can differ.

Pass Bundle: Mastery progress included

The Pass Bundle starts with a Captain Picard sleeve. Later it provides a set Mastery Pass with ten bonus levels, one Sealed token, 20 regular packs, two Golden packs, a Jean-Luc Picard card and style. This is relevant if you intend to complete Mastery rewards; the extra levels are less useful if you are not going to play enough to claim the pass track. The article does not guarantee that all rewards can be earned without further play.

Play Bundle: tokens for events

The Play Bundle lists a Captain Janeway sleeve and Exocomp companion immediately, followed by four Draft tokens, two Sealed tokens, 20 Play-In Points, a Kathryn Janeway card and style. Its value depends on whether you actually enter those formats. The tokens are not interchangeable with booster packs, so a casual collection goal and a competitive event goal point to different bundles.

Check the date discrepancy before paying

The official post has an inconsistency: its introductory text says the Star Trek set comes to Arena on November 10, while the itemized bundle lists say several contents are available “at release (November 2).” We cannot responsibly resolve that conflict from this one source. Check the current in-client product description and the publisher's latest schedule before purchasing for a particular date. The safest reading is only that the preorder opens now and that the items have different fulfillment timing.
