Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown DLC Access and Release Guide

The Charting the Unknown preview explains its October 29 release time and which story, camp, and quest milestones unlock its major activities.

Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown DLC Access and Release Guide artwork

The official Charting the Unknown feature preview is useful because it names the prerequisites behind the trailer's most visible activities. The Crimson Desert Enhanced DLC is scheduled for October 29, 2026 at 22:00 UTC (15:00 Pacific time); in Korea and Japan that is October 30 at 07:00. This is a pre-release outline, and the developer says its release-day patch notes will supply further details.

Which stories require main-game progress?

Separate new stories for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane become available from the Journal after the main story is complete. An ocean-focused storyline opens after the main-story quest “Howling Hill.” Those are different conditions: finishing a character's main arc does not by itself explain every ocean activity. If you want to start the DLC on release day, check the Journal and your Howling Hill progress rather than assuming all quests appear immediately.

Diving, ships and housing have different gates

Kliff, Oongka and Damiane can dive underwater to explore ruins, treasure chests, creatures and mounts. The preview says diving itself has no special unlock condition, but breath runs down underwater; suitable gear such as a diving suit can extend your time. Sailing requires a related questline after the Greymane Camp is established at Howling Hill. A ship can then be built through a port dispatch mission or bought from a Fleet Office manager.

The upgraded housing system needs both the Howling Hill camp and completion of Luke's Request in the “Grounds of the Sunrise” Greymanes faction quest. Three claimable castles require the main story and relevant liberation quests. Business management likewise depends on the relevant region's faction quest and a functioning camp. These prerequisites make the DLC more than a single unlock switch.

Other systems and a preparation checklist

The preview describes deeper relationships that can lead to romance or marriage, camp visits after sufficient upgrades, and a Garden of Trials boss sequence after the main questline. It does not state that every character is a romance option or list the rewards from the Garden. Before release, finish the story objectives you care about, establish the camp, and keep a resource buffer for shipbuilding or housing. Then use the release-day patch notes for precise costs and any changes to these gates.
